5 Moves the Mets Need to Make This Offseason

As you all know, the New York Mets are my favorite baseball team. Although they did fall just short of making the World Series, that doesn’t mean we can’t stop thinking about what and who we need for next year. In this post, I will not state the obvious needs, such as Pete Alonso (btw, Pete Alonso will most likely get the Mets all-time home run record if he signs with them). Here are all of the Mets needs for this offseason! (Note: not ranked in order).
1. Corbin Burnes

Corbin Burnes is one of the best pitchers in baseball, no doubt. The Mets need to go big in starting pitching this offseason, especially with Sean Manea, Jose Quintana, and Luis Severino potentially leaving and signing with another team. I think we should sprout a 5-year 125 million dollar contract on Corbin Burnes, who would help our pitching staff.
2. Jack Flaherty

Jack Flaherty is outstanding. There’s no doubt about that. I don’t think we should get him as a starting pitcher, but as a bullpen reliever. This is because our bullpen needs a lot of work, and he originally started as a bullpen pitcher. I think the Mets should give him a 1 year 10-million-dollar contract, just so we can see if he performs well. If he does, we can sign him to an even bigger contract.
3. Roki Sasaki

This young Japanese player is going to the MLB. He throws really fast, at about 103 mph at most. If he gets signed, he is going to be one of the scariest pitchers to face up against. I think the Mets would definitely have him as a friend rather than a foe.
4. Clay Holmes

Clay Holmes was one of the best relievers for the Yankees in 2024. Although I hate the Yankees, I think Clay Holmes could help the Mets. He’s a great reliever, which is good because we need improvement in our bullpen department. We need to sign this guy.
5. Juan Soto

Last year, we didn’t have too much left handed power. We had Brandon Nimmo, and Lindor when he was switch hitting as a lefty, but that was about it. Yes, he is basically only good offensively, and his baserunning and defense need some work, but I think the Mets can help him improve on that, and his power is also something that we are in need of.
These are all the players I think the Mets should get. Of course, I want to bring the whole team back from this year, but it’s ok if we don’t.
