My first All-Star Game

My first All-Star Game

Recently, I went to the 2023 MLB All-Star game with my dad. It was the first time in over 20 years it was held in Seattle. There were events over two different days. Here are all of the cool things we did:

Play Ball Park

Play Ball Park is a place you can go before the main events to have a lot of fun. You can walk around and see a lot of different booths and activities. One of my favorite things there was the Topps store. I bought 7 packs of baseball cards and got two limited edition cards. Also I beat my dad in a virtual reality home run derby game by hitting 6 home runs in a row. Then we had lunch and went onto Lumen field. There I practiced hitting in the batting cages. After that we went back inside and I got my own Topps baseball card that had my face and name on it. Finally, I participated in a bike race against grown men and got 2nd place.

Home Run Derby

After the Play Ball Park, we went inside T-Mobile Park for the Home Run Derby. We sat in left field. It was burning hot so I got a 64 oz soda. First up in the first round was Randy Arozarena vs Adolis García. Randy won and moved on to the next round. Next up was Luis Robert jr. vs Adely Rutschman. Luis won. Then it was Mookie Betts vs Vladimer Guerrero. Vladimer won.

Finally, the hometown favorite, Julio Rodriguez came up to bat. He was going up against Pete Alonso who had won the derby twice before. Julio went crazy. He blasted 41 home runs in 4 minutes, setting a new all-time record. Ultimately, Vladimer Guerrero Jr won the derby which was cool because his father had won it many years ago too.

All-Star Game

The next day, we went to the actual All-Star game. At the All-Star game the first 5 pitches were crazy catches. Then the American league got a home run and took the lead. But the National league got a home run in the 8th and took the lead. In the 9th inning, with two runners on José Ramírez flied out to end the game. The National league won the All-Star game for the first time in 9 years.

Autographs and balls

I managed to get a few cool memories during these events.

At the All-Star game, during batting practice, Bo Bichette hit a line drive into left field. Someone gave it to me. At the end of batting practice, I got Alex Cobb's autograph. He is a pitcher on the San Francisco Giants.

At Play Ball Park, I saw a lot of mascots. I got Raymond's autograph. He is the mascot for the Tampa Bay Rays. He is really funny and looks like someone from Sesame Street.

The All-Star game was a very fun experience. I hope I get to do it again.
