Mets vs Braves, Who Will Win?

By Tate

At the time I am writing this, Monday, September 23, the Mets and Braves are about to play a huge series that could decide who will make the playoffs and who won’t. I, as a Mets fan am rooting for the Mets all the way! The last time the Mets played the Braves was in July. But who will win this series? I will give reasons for both teams, just to be fair.

Why the Mets Might Win It

The Mets have been great. Ever since Grimace came to celebrate his birthday by throwing the first pitch, they’ve been amazing. Manea has been one of the best pitchers, Lindor is an MVP candidate, and Jose Iglesias has been crazy ever since the hit song OMG came out on Spotify and Apple Music. Also, one of the most memorable games for the Mets was against the Braves. On Mother’s Day, the Mets were losing to the Braves in the bottom of the ninth 2-3. Jeff McNeil got on base though, and then Brandon Nimmo, hit a bomb over the right center field fence, causing the Mets to win 4-3. They also currently have the third wild card spot, leading the Braves by two games. If they win ⅔ games in this series, they are automatically in the playoffs.

Why the Braves Might Win It

The Braves are really good against lefties, and unfortunately for the Mets, they have two lefties pitching against the Braves. The pitching matchups will be Luis Severino (11-6 with a 3.79 ERA) vs Spencer Schwellenbach (7-7 with a 3.61 ERA), then David Peterson (9-3, 3.08 ERA) vs Cy Young candidate Chris Sale (18-3, 2.38 ERA), and finally, Sean Manea (12-5, 3.29 ERA) and Max Fried (10-10, 3.42 ERA). The Braves might win it, but I hope they don’t.

The Mets vs Braves series will probably be the most important in these last few series for all of baseball. It decides who will and won’t make the playoffs. If you are a Mets fan and you are reading this post, I need you to answer my question, do you believe it?
